OKX Wallet and Bitget Wallet overlap more than you might expect, since both are free and both come from big crypto exchanges. Each one claims more than 130 blockchains and runs on your iPhone, your Android phone or Chrome.
Both also let you skip the seed phrase now, because you can just sign in with Google, Apple or an email address instead.
Here’s my short answer. OKX Wallet suits you if you trade on-chain all the time, already own a Keystone or want a swap engine that checks 400+ DEXs to find your price.
Bitget Wallet is the one I’d give you if you mostly move stablecoins around or keep a Ledger plugged into your laptop. You may also like its $300 million protection fund, since the balance is published on-chain.
I went through security and setup first, then looked at the chains and tokens each one handles, what a swap really costs you and the incidents in each wallet’s past. Everything here comes from OKX’s and Bitget’s own pages, read in September 2026.

First, what is OKX Wallet?

OKX Wallet is the self-custody wallet from OKX, the company that also runs the OKX exchange. For years you could only reach it from inside the main OKX app, until OKX moved it into a separate OKX Wallet app in April 2025 because plenty of newcomers never found it there.
(Want the exchange side instead? My full OKX exchange review covers it.)
Self-custody means you hold the keys and OKX can’t touch them. The downside is simple: if you lose your seed phrase or private key, OKX says your money is gone for good.
The iPhone app is free to download from the App Store, where it had a 4.0 rating in September 2026, but from just 106 reviews.
What you get with OKX Wallet
- OKX’s homepage claims 130+ chains.
- You can start with a 12-word seed phrase. Since 21 July 2026 you can also use Social Login with Google, Apple or email.
- A built-in DEX aggregator searches 400+ DEXs for your swap and gives you market orders, limit orders and DCA.
- Your Keystone 3 or Keystone 3 Pro works in both the phone app and the browser extension.
- You can have up to 1,000 accounts on the extension but only 100 in the app.
- An Approval tab lists the token approvals you’ve granted on major EVM chains.
And what about Bitget Wallet?

You may remember it as BitKeep. In March 2023 the Bitget exchange invested $30 million in it, took a controlling stake and gave the wallet its current name.
Oddly, the iOS listing still names BitKeep Global Inc. as the seller, and I find that a little funny.
Bitget Wallet claims 100 million users and support for more than 130 networks. Its iOS app is free, and it held a 4.7 rating from 5,610 reviews when I checked in September 2026.
Like OKX Wallet, it’s non-custodial, so if you lose your seed phrase Bitget can’t bring it back for you.
What you get with Bitget Wallet
- You can pick a classic seed phrase wallet or a social login wallet tied to your email, Google or Apple account.
- Swap + Bridge handles market and limit orders, on one chain or across several.
- GetGas is a prepaid gas balance for network fees on 12 chains.
- The browser extension works with your Ledger on EVM chains, Bitcoin and Solana.
- Bitget Wallet says it shares a $300 million protection fund with Bitget.
- Plenty of extras sit on top of that. You’ll find a crypto card, stablecoin Earn, prediction markets and tokenized stocks.
How safe are OKX Wallet and Bitget Wallet?
I’ll start with the part I don’t like. Neither wallet app is open source, and while OKX puts its signing SDKs on GitHub, you won’t find the wallet itself there.
Bitget shares its swap contracts but not the app or extension code. So with either one, you’re trusting software that nobody outside the company can fully audit, and I’d rather that weren’t the case.
Seed phrase or a Google sign-in?
An OKX seed phrase is 12 words long, and its help pages tell you to copy it onto paper and never take a screenshot of it.
Bitget gives you nearly the same advice. You write the words down in order on something durable, then make a few copies and keep them in different places.
Both wallets now let you skip the phrase entirely, and OKX’s Social Login keeps your keys inside a trusted execution environment, or TEE. That’s a walled-off part of your device’s chip, and OKX says it doesn’t access the keys.
Bitget describes much the same setup, where your key sits in the TEE, signs what it needs to and then gets wiped.
Bitget is also upfront about the risk. If you lose your Google or email account, you lose your way into the wallet. So it asks you to add a backup email or Google Authenticator straight away, and I’d do that before you deposit a cent.
Later on you can turn a Bitget social login wallet into a normal seed phrase wallet, but there’s no way back after that. The exported phrase only shows for 24 hours, so keep your pen and paper ready.
OKX has shut down its older keyless (MPC) wallet, and you haven’t been able to create a new one since 23 May 2025.
Can you use a hardware wallet with them?
A hardware wallet keeps your private key on a small separate device, away from your phone or laptop. OKX Wallet talks to the Keystone 3 and Keystone 3 Pro by scanning QR codes. OneKey’s help center also shows you how to pair a OneKey with the OKX app over Bluetooth.
Bitget took the Ledger route. You connect your Ledger to its browser extension over USB, and Keystone’s own guide also lists Bitget Wallet mobile support for the Keystone 3 Pro.
So if you already have a Ledger sitting in a drawer, Bitget Wallet is the one with a documented flow for it. If you own a Keystone, either wallet will do, and my Keystone 3 Pro review covers that device in detail.
Scam filters, hacks and fines
OKX’s security page lists flags on high-risk tokens and a HackerOne bug bounty, and it says the wallet blocks known malicious DApps and addresses for you.
Bitget uses Go+ to screen addresses and phishing sites. It warns you when an address you’re sending to looks like one you used recently, and you can revoke old approvals from its Approvals page.
Neither wallet has a clean record. On 17 March 2025 OKX suspended its DEX aggregator after it caught the Lazarus group trying to abuse it.
Three weeks earlier, on 24 February 2025, an OKX affiliate agreed to an $84 million penalty. It also gave up about $421 million in fees from US customers for running without a money transmitter license. OKX stresses that there were no allegations of customer harm.
BitKeep’s past is rougher. Its Swap feature was hacked on 18 October 2022 on BNB Chain and Polygon with roughly $1 million lost, and the company promised to repay every loss in full.
A second incident followed in December 2022, and by March 2023 the wallet said it had fully compensated every eligible user.
Today Bitget Wallet points you to a $300 million protection fund that is held on-chain as 6,500 BTC. It covers losses caused by the platform itself, not the mistakes you make on your own.
Is OKX Wallet or Bitget Wallet easier to use?
Setup is short in both. On OKX you tap Create Wallet and then Create Now, pick a password and save your phrase. Bitget asks you for a passcode and then nudges you with a Back up now button on the home screen.
If you forget that password or passcode, neither company can reset it for you. You’d have to reinstall the app and restore from your seed phrase, which is normal for self-custody but catches more people out than you’d think.
The big split shows up in daily use, because OKX is built around trading and its DEX area packs in swaps, bridging, stock tokens and copy trading.
Bitget Wallet feels more like a payments app. You get a card and QR Pay, plus a gas balance, so you don’t need to buy ETH or SOL just to send some USDT.
Neither home screen is quiet. OKX pushes rewards at you through OKX Boost and Bitget runs promotions like FOMO Thursdays, and frankly I could do without that noise in a wallet.
One warning covers both wallets, and it matters more than any feature. If you send on the wrong network or to the wrong address, your coins are gone and nobody can reverse it.
Supported chains: what can you hold in OKX Wallet and Bitget Wallet?
On raw chain count it’s a tie, with OKX claiming 130+ and Bitget claiming more than 130 major networks plus millions of tokens.
The details are where you’ll notice a gap. OKX’s Social Login launched on just 19 networks, far fewer than your seed phrase wallet can reach. Bitget says you may need to convert your social login wallet to a seed phrase one to use niche networks.
Hardware wallet coverage is narrower still. With a Keystone, the OKX app handles EVM, ETC, Bitcoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash and Dash, but the OKX extension only gives you EVM and Bitcoin.
Bitget’s Ledger link covers EVM chains, Bitcoin and Solana, but you only get it inside the extension.
OKX also drops support for things now and then: ARC-20 went in July 2025, CAT20 in August 2025, EthereumFair in September 2025 and SRC-20 in August 2026.
If you hold an unusual Bitcoin token standard, keep an eye on OKX’s announcements. Each shutdown gets a help-center notice, and those notices only help you if you read them.
What do OKX Wallet and Bitget Wallet cost you?
Both wallets are free to download at the time of writing (September 2026), so you pay through swap fees and network gas instead.
| Fee level (checked Sept 2026) | OKX Wallet | Bitget Wallet |
|---|---|---|
| 0% | Two tokens from the “Others” group; native wrap and unwrap is exempt too | ETH to WETH and similar wrapped pairs |
| 0.1% | One Group 1 token for another | Stablecoin to stablecoin |
| 0.25% to 0.3% | OKX charges 0.25% for Group 1 with Group 2, or Group 2 with Group 2 | Bitget charges 0.3% for major token pairs, or a major token for a stablecoin |
| 0.5% | Group 1 or Group 2 paired with an “Others” token | Every other pair on the same chain |
| Across chains | No separate rate on the fee page | 0.3% to 1.3%, or a flat 0.3% on outside routes |
| Network gas | Extra, in the native coin | Extra, or paid from GetGas |
OKX sorts tokens into Group 1, Group 2 and Others, according to its DEX fee page. It reshuffles the groups regularly and puts every tokenized stock in Group 2. So check your quote each time before you tap confirm.
Bitget’s tiers only apply to its own liquidity. If your swap routes through SwapKit, deBridge, Relay, SWFT, LayerZero or LI.FI, you pay a flat 0.3% fee instead.
Gas is where Bitget really helps you. With GetGas you top up from about 2 USD (September 2026) in USDT or USDC, and it then pays your network fees on 12 chains.
Some sends cost you nothing at all, like the first USDT transfer from each address on Tron. Those subsidies have daily limits, and Bitget says they can change.

OKX Wallet or Bitget Wallet: which should you pick?
If you swap a lot and want the widest routing you can get, go with OKX Wallet.
If you mostly move stablecoins and you’re tired of topping up ETH or TRX just to pay a fee, Bitget Wallet will suit you better.
For a hardware wallet, let the device you own decide: Bitget Wallet is the one for a Ledger on desktop, and either works with a Keystone.

Questions people ask about OKX Wallet vs Bitget Wallet
Is OKX Wallet safer than Bitget Wallet?
Not clearly. Both are self-custody apps, and you can’t read the code of either one. Bitget Wallet had two incidents in 2022 as BitKeep and says it repaid users. It now points you to a $300 million protection fund. OKX suspended its DEX aggregator in March 2025 after it spotted Lazarus group activity.
Which one has cheaper swaps?
That depends on your pair. Same-chain fees run 0% to 0.5% in both. OKX charges nothing when you swap two “Others” tokens, where Bitget would take 0.5%. Bitget’s cross-chain swaps cost you 0.3% to 1.3%.
Does either work with a Ledger?
Yes, Bitget Wallet does through its browser extension. OKX Wallet documents Keystone and OneKey instead.
Do I have to deal with a seed phrase?
No. You can sign in to either wallet with Google, Apple or email. A seed phrase wallet still gives you the most control, though, and you can move it to other apps easily.
Can OKX or Bitget freeze or recover my funds?
No. Both wallets are non-custodial. Neither company holds your keys, so neither one can restore a seed phrase you’ve lost.
What’s GetGas?
It’s Bitget Wallet’s prepaid gas balance. You fund it with USDT, USDC or another accepted token, and it pays your network fees on 12 chains.
My verdict: OKX Wallet or Bitget Wallet?
If you trade on-chain a lot, I’d lean toward OKX Wallet. Its aggregator reaches 400+ DEXs, and swaps between two “Others” tokens carry no interface fee, and your Keystone works on both your phone and your browser.
For everyday stablecoin spending, or if you own a Ledger, Bitget Wallet wins. GetGas fixes a really annoying problem and the fees are spelled out clearly, but its cross-chain swaps will cost you more.
